LGBTQ+ Workshops at Tate St Ives

An example of one of the pieces I made in our workshops with YAY!
I spent a couple of sessions over summer facilitating art workshops at Tate St Ives for young people from YAY! This stands for Young and Yourself Cornwall, a group for young LGBTQ+ individuals in Cornwall, run by Intercom Trust. For many of the group it was their first time engaging in a 'formal' gallery space or talking about their experiences outside of the youth centre where their group is based.
As a facilitator, these workshops involved collaborating with our guest artist Tom Stockley and members of the Learning Programme at Tate to create an inclusive and accessible space for YAY! and it was lovely to see them become more comfortable in the space throughout the week. Our workshops were all about self-expression through artwork and allowing individuals to make their mark, for example on our giant chalkboard wall, where we created a shared mural of everyone's portraits and doodles that represented themselves and each other.
