What a privilege to be at this year's Cornwall Sustainability Awards ceremony, celebrating the fantastic work done by Cornish companies leading the way in environmental best practices.
As Marketing & Community Outreach Officer for 99p Films CIC, I know the value of storytelling when it comes to elevating the work of grassroots organisations and creating real change in our communities. These awards brought together the stories of charities and businesses across the Duchy, providing a platform for investment and collaboration.
It was an honour for 99p Films as a small CIC to be considered for Most Sustainable Organisation, alongside such inspiring industry leaders. We thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and connections formed throughout the evening at the iconic National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
Whilst we didn't take home a trophy, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase social cinema as a force for environmental education and change. We're on a mission to highlight the profound impact that documentary films can have on consumer beliefs and behaviour, especially when it comes to taking action to protect the environment.
Huge congratulations to our partners at Falmouth Food Co-Op for winning the Sustainable Food and Drink category! We're really proud to source our fresh produce from the Loveland community growing field in Penryn, just down the road from our office.
All of our screenings follow our 99p Films model 'Breathe, Watch, Discuss, Eat', allowing our audiences to sit down together to watch thought-provoking films, before facilitating discussions and debates, and then bringing everyone together for a communal feast.
Sometimes the biggest actions start with the smallest conversations...
